It takes a bit more time, but we re-skein all of our yarns before they go out the studio door. Why? I love the way that the colors blend and play off of each other in the finished product, you can get a much better sense of how the colors will look in your project. Not that they look half bad pre-skeining:

Even before re-skeining, they look lovely.

The limited edition superwash worsted is now listed at our etsy shop. This buttery soft merino took the dye beautifully!

There was even one colorway that never made it to etsy, the tentatively named “Vintage Cool”. A friend saw it and knew it had to follow her home! When I was dyeing the colorway, I had second thoughts about my color choices after I had applied the dye, but lo and behold, once it was steamed and reskeined, the ugly duckling wowed us!

Vintage Cool
Needless to say, this colorway shall return on later batches, just on a different base yarn. But perhaps it needs a better name?
I spent the afternoon in the studio, reskeining yarn and listening to the sounds of melting snow dripping from the roof and trees. When I went in it was winter, and by the time I left, all the snow had melted, the birds were out at the feeder, the sun was bright in the sky and it seemed like spring.
