About Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark:
I spend my days dyeing a spectrum of yarns, and my evenings thinking up new projects to play with all of those colors. My background in fiberarts began as a young child in Connecticut, and grew into a pursuit of a B.F.A. in Fiberarts from the Savannah College of Art and Design (B.F.A. Fibers, 1999). My original major was sequential art (comic book geek), but tactile fibers drew me back in. I still draw pictures, though.
My freelance knitwear designs can be seen in Interweave Knits, Twist Collective, Fons & Porter’s Love of Knitting, Mason Dixon Knitting Outside the Lines, Lace Style, Knitty, as well as patterns for yarn companies such as Classic Elite, Kollage Yarns, and Polarknit.
I live in the land of kudzu, AKA Birmingham, Alabama, with my husband Chris, three dogs, two cats, and a herd of woolie dust buffalo (I’m a great cook, but an indifferent housekeeper). In addition to my constant obsession with knitting and crochet; I also love photography, especially with film cameras, sewing, embroidery, drawing, bookbinding, cooking (and eating! Oh, the eating.), and bellydancing.
Find me on twitter (@mercedesKSD), ravelry (thepiebird), and flickr (pie_bird). You can also visit my personal blog and design website, Piebird Design.
There’s also behind the scenes help around the KSD studio, so let me introduce you to the crew:
Kristin, AKA Girl Friday
Kristin is my go-to helper and best friend. She’s an organizational whiz, which helps tame the messes I tend to create, and is an *expert* at skeining yarn, battling paperwork, and making spreadsheets (aak, spreadsheets!). She encourages all the right kinds of crazy around these parts.
More crew member bios coming soon!
